Description

Bold lines. Vintage polish. Premium performance.

Meet the All-In-One Cast Iron Skillet Collection. This deluxe cast iron skillet is inspired by Japanese cookware and thoughtfully designed for open fire use, making it the perfect addition to any cooking enthusiast's collection. Included Dutch oven style lid, circular polished interior, better heat distribution, extended handle, and copper accents make this a dream to cook with--from camp to kitchen. Pre-seasoned with organic sunflower oil and ready to use right out of the box.

Note: Due to a thicker base than similar products, we recommend cooking “slow and low” to get to know your pan. Like all new skillets, sticking can occur and will decrease over time.

Care

How to reseason your cast iron

1. Scrub the cast iron clean using a cleaning mesh or a stiff brush.
2. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
3. Choose a cooking oil with a high smoke point, such as Sunflower or Grapeseed oil.
4. Apply a small amount of oil at a time using a paper towel to rub it into the interior of the cast iron, including the walls. Cast iron is porous, so you should be able to rub quite a bit of oil into the surface without excess oil. Repeat until the skillet is well-oiled, but not dripping.
5. Place the cast iron in the oven for 10 minutes, then carefully remove it and wipe away any excess oil on the surface.
6. Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (205°C).
7. Bake the cast iron for 1 hour, then turn off the oven and allow the cast iron to cool in the oven.
8. Once the cast iron is cool, remove it from the oven and wipe away any remaining oil with a paper towel or cloth.

Your cast iron is now seasoned and ready to use.
Repeat this process periodically to maintain the seasoning on your cast iron.

FAQ

Q: Do I need to season my cast iron before using it?
A: No, our cast iron is pre-seasoned and ready to use.

Q: Is my cast iron non-stick?
A: All cast iron skillets are prone to food sticking while cooking during the first few uses. We recommend cooking "slow and low" to get to know your pan.

Q: Can I store my cast iron outside for extended periods of time?
A: Cast iron is not meant to be stored outside for long periods of time. Extended exposure to wet conditions may cause rust and unnecessary wear and tear. We recommend storing your cast iron indoors to help it last as long as possible and to avoid the need to purchase a replacement.

About the Brand

Barebones has a history steeped in philanthropic work and continues to help lift people out of poverty by providing essential skills, education, and tools.

The first product ever created by the Barebones team was the state-of-the-art emergency shelter, and this continues to be one of the primary assets they provide to underprivileged communities and disaster recovery efforts. With these bare-bone shelters, people in countries across the globe are actively receiving the protection they desperately need.

Barebones has evolved from its philanthropic roots, but continues humanitarian efforts and the “Do Good” philosophy it was founded on.

The Materials

We develop our cast iron products using a proprietary blend of cast iron and steel. By adding an increased portion of steel, each piece is better suited to handle rapid temperature change without the cracking or breaking that can occur in more iron-dense products. This formulation also allows our skillets to be 15% lighter than similar cast iron products, offering smoother handling and a more agile cooking experience. With sustainability in mind, our Polished Cast Iron Skillet is free of resin-based sealants and seasoned with natural, organic sunflower oil.

The Inspiration

If you have a cast iron dutch oven or skillet that has been passed down from your grandparents (or great-grandparents!), it likely has a very smooth cooking surface. Contrary to popular belief, cast iron pans came polished as standard practice in the 19th and early 20th centuries. As cast iron became less expensive and mass-produced, an unpolished, rough interior became commonplace. Dutch ovens and skillets are often purchased this way today.

Vintage meets contemporary in this polished cast iron collection. With a nod towards Japanese cookware and design, these pans feature a square, flat top, and rounded bottom. Copper accents and a flat, square handle give a premium look and feel.

The Design

Our unique blend of cast iron and steel give way to a lightweight, heat-tempered skillet. In this deluxe version, we included a beautiful, polished dutch oven-style lid that acts as a second cooking surface on hot coals or fire. Newly designed extended handle makes quick work of easily and safely handling any dish over an open fire. Added hole for hanging and dual pour spouts offer real world use from the kitchen to camp and everywhere in between. A top-quality, elevated cast iron skillet.
